Nonstick cookware has the advantage of being easy to clean. No more scrubbing for hours to get food off. In particular nonstick skillets make frying eggs and other items a cinch.

But which is the best nonstick cookware set? Non stick pans come in two forms - porcelain enamelled cookware, which has a porcelain coating over the metal that is hard-wearing and non toxic, and modern coatings like teflon, which are completely nonstick, but have been implicated in some health scares.

Luckily manufacturers have taken the trouble to correct some of the problems with nonstick cookware. For example, the KitchenAid 12 piece nonstick hard anodized cookware set, has a premium three-layer nonstick coating that is scratch-resistant, and non toxic, making it safe to cook your food in it. As a nonstick surface, it performs much better than teflon too, allowing the food to come away from it quickly. You can test it by adding some drops of water and see how they bead to get away from the surface. The three layers also mean that it is less likely to peel off while cooking.

In general the more coats of nonstick surface you have the better - more coats mean the pans are more expensive but they should last longer. In addition, you can also get eco friendly nonstick pans such as Cuisinart's ceramica surface which is used in their green gourmet line. It is ceramic based rather than petroleum based so it's great for people who want to avoid petroleum derived products in their cookware.

Nonstick cookware needs to be washed by hand to protect it - this is not really a chore given how unlikely it is for food to stick to it. You just need to soak it for a little while in soapy suds to ensure oils are removed and gently wash. To protect while cooking always use wooden spoons - even if the surface is scratch resistant, metal just does not go with nonstick pans.

If you want the old-fashioned porcelain enamelled cookware, try lodge dutch ovens or le crueset dutch ovens. Porcelain sets tend to be more expensive - but they are a tried and true nonstick surface that should last you for years.

When winter arrives, pets shiver just as much as we do, especially when temperatures dip below 50F (10C). Though most dogs have a covering of fur, it varies as to how thick it is and how much protection it provides from the cold. And some dog breeds are not meant to live in cold climates. In general the shorter the fur the less protection the dog has from the elements. Small young puppies are particularly vulnerable to the cold.

Many people laugh when they see dogs out in dog jackets, and assume the owner is treating the dog as a human, but I assure you the dog itself feels great with the jacket on as it provides much welcome warmth and defence against the elements.

So which dog jacket is the best for your pet? I would avoid those dog jackets that are tight - you will have massive trouble getting it onto your dog, and feeding it's legs into the sleeves.

However, you can compromise by using a dog snuggie.  Dog snuggies are a cross between dog blankets and dog jackets. First of all they are made from a warm fleece that should provide ample protection against the wintery cold. Secondly, they are loose, which means it's easier to get it onto your dog. Loose jackets are more comfortable for the dog too. There are sleeves for the front legs, and then you simply velcro the jacket into place. The velcro tabs are adjustable, so you can put the snuggie onto the dog over it's collar and it doesn't matter if your pooch has gained a few pounds, you can just adjust the tabs.

They come in cute pink and blue, making a stylish splash, and come in four sizes, so there should be a snuggie for your dog no matter how big or small it is. Simply measure your dog in length before choosing from extra small, small, medium or large sizes. Best of all they are inexpensive and you can simply throw the snuggie into the washing machine to clean.

Some dog owners report that their dogs happily wear their snuggies indoors when it gets cold, and often sleep in them, as the snuggie doubles as a blanket.

If you are looking for an effective, cute and cheap dog jacket, you can't go wrong with a dog snuggie.

Watches make the best Christmas presents, especially as they last for decades. Every time your beloved wears the watch you've bought them, they will remember who gave it to them. A good watch can be passed down the generations, becoming an heirloom.

If you are buying a watch for a woman, you can't really go wrong with Bulova ladies watches. This is a classic American brand, and they produce examples of the most elegant dress watches that will end up as keepsakes for decades. Bulova ladies watches tend to have slim delicate bracelets that look well with evening wear. Small boned delicate women particularly suit these watches. Some of the watches come with matching pendants to make the complete evening accessory set. Combined with the elegance is precision timekeeping - Bulova famously sent their revolutionary Accutron watch to the moon, as it was the first fully electronic watch that functioned in zero gravity.  Modern Bulova watches operate on quartz automatic movement. Bulova watches have become collectors pieces over the decades, so you will be getting an investment.

If you are buying a watch for a man, you may wish to take the rugged approach and buy them a Seiko automatic divers watch. These legendary watches are water proof at an incredible 500 feet and more, and are intended for scuba divers and water sportsmen. But they also look cool worn on dry land, and give out a rugged outdoor vibe to those who wear them. The most popular Seiko diver watches are the so called "monster" watches, which Seiko produce in limited editions. They come with brightly colored faces - yellow, orange, and black, and they look mean and robust. The monster range has developed a cult following and have become collectors items. Seiko watches are extremely well made and last for decades.

If you have a bigger budget, you can buy a Rolex or a Cartier watch - but these tend to be a lot more boring and dull in looks. It's a lot of money to pay for what is essentially just a brand name. In my opinion a Seiko Monster Divers watch blows a Cartier mens watch away, but you need to make your decision based on your own personal style and tastes. Rolex and Cartier watches are classic investment watches - they should keep their value over the years. And they are good for showing off how wealthy you are. Nothing says affluence quite like a Rolex.

If you have a low budget, you can't really go wrong with a good old Swatch, which is fun and colorful. I would stay away from replica watches - they tend to get scruffy very quickly and fool no one. You are much better off buying a decent medium value watch like a Bulova or a Seiko.

The Apple iPad was one of the most eagerly anticipated product launches in recent years, and it didn't disappoint. Hundreds of pages were written extolling the virtues of this sleek new gadget, and inevitably, it went to the top of people's wish lists. But the iPad does have some drawbacks, and you should be clear what these are before you go ahead and buy one.

First let's look at the good aspects of the iPad: It allows you to surf the web. The built-in Apple iWord 2010 software allows you to read and create spreadsheets, documents, and presentations. It has a built-in ebook reader, allowing you to read books bought from Apple's iBooks store, as well as any ebooks that are in the ePub format. You can use your iPad to play games, watch movies and videos. Apps specially written for the iPad allow you to read your favourite newspapers on it too – and the apps often render the newsites in a much more user-friendly way than the traditional news websites.

Apple have conceived the iPad to be an all-purpose tablet computer, which can do everything a PC or game player can do but is easily portable.

Now the drawbacks: The iPad did not use the revolutionary iInk technology which has anti-glare properties and allows you to read for hours withour tiring. By contrast, the Amazon Kindle and Sony Digital Reader, both have it. The iPad is backlit, which means you can read in bed, but whether you will want to for any length of time remains to be seen. If you are mainly after an ebook reader, then you might be better off sticking with the Kindle or the Sony ereader, both of which are considerably cheaper than the iPad.

The iPad has many attractions for business people on the go, especially as it comes with office software and is much smaller than a laptop – but a big downside is that it has no built-in USB port. This makes it hard to transfer documents to and from your PC, though one way to work around this is to upload your documents into Google docs (which supports all document formats), and which means you can reassess these from your office PC using the cloud. Apple have also made available docks with USB ports, but you have to pay extra for these. If you can put this all on expenses, then go ahead and buy the iPad – it will certainly save you from the hassle of lugging a heavy laptop with you.

The iPad also allows you to play games, but hardened gamers might wish to stick to the PSP or perhaps buy Sony's latest portable games platform, the Sony Dash, which allows you to browse the internet, listen to music and watch videos as well as play games. The Sony Dash is cheaper than the iPad as it doesn't have the ebook reader nor the office software. But if you are a gamer who also wants a device that allows you to do your homework and surf the net as well, then you might want to consider the iPad.

Finally the iPad does not support Adobe Flash, which might depreciate many people's browsing experience as so many websites use flash these days. One upside of not supporting Flash though, is that the iPad is much faster than all the iPad killers that have emerged. If speed is more important to you than having adverts visible when you browse the net, then go ahead and order the iPad.

Pregnancy puts great strain and stress on a woman's body, and one of these stresses is insomnia caused by being unable to get comfortable while lying down in bed. Prenancy insomnia can cause a lot of anxiety in the mother-to-be especially as she is conscious of the need to get enough sleep in order to nurture the baby growing in her womb.

Because pregnant women can't take medication for their insominia, the best non-medical aid to getting a good night's sleep is a maternity pillow. These are full length pillows that are designed to support your body as you sleep, taking pressure off your back, and helping to keep your feet elevated to prevent swelling. They are sometimes known as body pillows, pregnancy pillows and back and belly pillows.

Because of the size of body pillows, they don't fall off the bed or move around while you sleep. They are pretty substantial and are designed to curve round your body with the end piece secured in between your legs (which opens up the hip bones and relieves pressure on the back).

There are a large variety of maternity pillows on the market to suit every wallet. The simplest type of pillow is the pregnancy wedge pillow, which cost as little as $15.99. These are wedge shaped and are slipped under your belly when you sleep on your side, taking the weight of the baby bump and thus relieving pressure on your back. The most popular type of body pillows for pregnant women is the big “C” shaped pillows, which can be curved around your back or around your front. Finally there are the giant “U” shaped pillows which form a sort of nest around you, curving around both your back and your front. Because they are so large, they are the most expensive, - on the other hand they are also the most comfortable as they provide total support. Some body pillows are made of memory foam, which moulds itself to your shape – this provides extra comfort because the pillow works with you.

Pregnant mothers who use a body pillow to help them sleep not only find themselves getting some much needed rest, but symptoms such as back-ache is reduced. If you sleep with your feet elevated by the body pillow, you can also reduce swelling in the feet. Once the baby is born, the pillows can be used as nursing support pillows, as the curve around both you and the baby. When the baby becomes a toddler, you can use the body pillow to make a soft safe play-pen for them.

The earlier you get a body pillow, the better your pregnancy will run, as you will have at least eliminated the stress caused from lack of sleep.

If you bulk buy your food, or do bulk cooking sessions, then you need somewhere to store what you have made. Most people store foods in plastic containers, but recently there has been a shift towards glass storage containers and jars.

Glass storage jars and containers are non toxic and inert - that is they do not react with the food stored in them, even when heated. This is in marked contrast with plastic containers, which leach chemicals into food when heated in the microwave, (and fatty foods absorb these readily).

Before you buy your glass containers, you need to determine what types of food you will be storing in them. If you are doing bulk cooking and then storing the food in the freezer, you might wish to look at glass containers that are microwave friendly, such as Snapware glass storage containers. If you want to cook in the oven, then freeze, and then re-heat in the microwave, you might wish to consider Pyrex or Anchor Hocking containers, both of which can handle both the oven and microwave and come with plastic lids for storage.

If you are storing dry foods, such as rice, sugar, flour, pasta, beans or cereals that you have bought in bulk, then consider a glass manufacturer such as Bormioli Rocco, or perhaps purchase Libbey Storage Jars. They come in a wide variety of sizes, and can store up to a gallon. You can also get old-fashioned glass jars of the type your grandmother stored cookies and candies in. These look good too, and glass jars full of cookies usually give a warm and welcoming look to your kitchen. They always come with fitted lids to keep moisture out and ensure that what is stored within stays fresh and dry.

If you are a jelly, jam or pickle maker, you can get glass canning jars to store your produce. These tend to have very tightly sealing glass lids to ensure there are no leaks or spills. You can also use these to store condiments, sauces and soups. You can also get small glass jars to store spices such as cinnamon and cloves in, or even spice mixtures that you have ground yourself (such as curry spices).

If you have a baby, then you will probably be doing a lot of bulk cooking of baby food, just to save yourself the time. You can now get specially made glass bowls with fitted lids to store baby foods in, each small enough to hold just one meal, which you can take out of the fridge or freezer as you need it.

There are glass storage containers to suit every need, and you will find that making the switch from plastic pays dividends in your health as well as in how your kitchen looks and functions.

The Apple iPad officially goes on sale in the UK on 28th May from the Apple store. However, pre orders have been so white hot that people ordering now can only get the iPad delivered after a few weeks.

This is in spite of the fact that prices in the UK are higher than in the United States (the 16GB wi-fi version is £429, the 32GB wi-fi version costs £499 and the 64Gb wi-fi version costs £599. For the ipad with Wi Fi plus 3G, add £100 to each unit.)  Other outlets, such as Argos and John Lewis are not selling the iPad yet, as they haven't been granted stock yet. It's not known when they will be stocking it - it all depends on whether Apple can get their supplier to produce more units.

So what do you do if you want to badly want to buy an ipad? Well, one option is to look at Ebay. Many Ebay sellers in the USA are willing to ship to the UK. Before bidding, check the shipping costs. Also check the exchange rate - the pound sterling has been falling against the dollar in recent weeks, which may mean that your iPad ends up more expensive than it otherwise would have been.

In addition, many people are unsure if they want to buy the iPad right now - should they wait for the next generation version, should they look at the competitors? The iPad has certain drawbacks - it can't cope with multi-tasking (so you can't listen to music and browse the net at the same time). It has no camera, no web-cam, and no USB port. (The absence of the USB port will make it difficult for business users to transfer documents to and from their PCs to the iPad). The web browser doesn't handle Flash (which means that when you view a webpage with flash on it using the iPad, all you see is a big blue cube).  It only lets you use Apple's Safari web brower - so if you are a fan of Firefox or Chrome, you are out of luck. Competitors have taken notice. We know for instance that Hewlett Packard are intending to bring out the HP Slate later this year that will have features that the iPad does not, such as a built-in web-cam (which will allow you to do video conferencing, plus normal camera for still photos, plus it can handle flash on websites (which the iPad can't). Archos and Joojoo are also putting out tablet PC's that they hope will be iPad killers.
