Low Carb Diet: Certified Fast Weight Loss Program

Of all the many weight loss programs popular at present, finding a fast weight loss program is already like finding a needle in a haystack. For those who are looking for an effective and fast weight loss program, a low carb program is worth the try. The low carb diet is one of the most popular of weight loss techniques because of the rapid initial weight loss it causes. In this type of diet, losing 5 to 6 pounds a week is already normal because in this diet, body fat is not the first thing that is eliminated but the stored glycogen and water in the body. Despite the fast disintegration of these components, low carb diets are still safe because the carbohydrate stocks in the body provide the needed energy and nutrients of the red blood cells and the brain.

Basically, the concept behind the low carb diet is that the insufficient amount of dietary carbohydrate triggers the system to burn the reserved store of glycogen found in the muscles and liver as substitute fuel to muscular activity. This fast burning of glycogen is the one that makes a low carb diet a fast weight loss program because the water weight is lost first in the process.

There are a couple of setbacks for those who want to use this diet though. One is that low carb dieters should make sure that they maintain the diet for a long period of time. Since in low carb diets, no body fat is actually lost and people who go back to their unhealthy eating habits will accumulate fat at a fast rate since the body’s automatic response is to replenish its store of glycogen. Fatigue may also be a common problem for people who are under this program because one of the most important fuels needed for physical activity is carbohydrates. In conclusion, people who are using this type of program should make sure that they still exercise to help them strengthen their systems.
