Everybody dreams about having the perfect body.  When you are bombarded with images of stunningly beautiful people it’s not difficult to feel inadequate.  Of course, there’s more to losing weight than simply looking good at the beach.

There are some people who are so overweight that they end up suffering from a whole host of different illnesses such as heart troubles and diabetes.  The number of people who are getting to be dangerously overweight is increasing year on year and doesn’t seem to be slowing down at all.

Despite that fact that there are so many TV shows and articles in magazines about living a healthy lifestyle the message still doesn’t seem to be getting through.  Eating more fruit and vegetables along with working up a sweat at the gym are the ways we know works for weight loss yet most people don’t want to do this.

If you are 50 pounds over weight, this is still quite a lot yet it’s not too late to change your unhealthy ways.  You can still learn how to eat a better diet and exercise so that you are healthy.  Normally weight loss surgery should be a last resort however there is the possibility of getting surgery even if you’re only 50 lbs over your ideal weight.

If you want to claim for weight loss surgery under your health insurance you normally need to be considerably obese with a BMI of 35 or 40 plus.  At 50 lbs overweight you are unlikely to have a BMI as high as this so getting surgery with your insurance policy is a very long shot.  Apparently the average cost of weight loss surgery in California is $52,000 which is going to be cost-prohibitive for many.

There has been a clinical trial recently for people who are only 50 lbs overweight however it’s not yet been rolled out to the general public.  At the moment, different surgery methods are being tested so that the surgery is minimally invasive.

So if you hope to be getting surgery for only being a bit overweight, you might have to wait a while longer.  In the mean time, you should continue to look for healthy recipes, exercise more and even consider other types of surgery such as liposuction.
