How to Find Free Images to Use on Word Wolf

Images can make a good article into a great article and we strongly encourage all our authors to use at least one image. Word Wolf has a very special feature which allows you to easily add an image that will be resized to suit the article. It is easy to add an image. Just click on the 'image' button in the edit screen and upload your image. That's it! Your image will now appear at the top of your article in the correct size.
So now you need to find some images to add to your articles. Before we talk about sites to find images you need to know which images you can legally use. Images that are in the public domain can be freely used.
Other images may be licensed in a number of ways.
Creative Commons Attribution ShareAlike 3.0 License
This is the most common license you will come accross and allows you to use the image under some conditions. You must provide an attribution in the form specified by the owner of the image license.
Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial 3.0 License
This is similar to the license above but restricts the image to non-commercial use. Word Wolf is non-commercial so you can use images bearing this license in your articles.
Attributing an Image
On many websites you can click on the creative commons license link to find the code you can use to place an attribute in your article. On Flickr you can click on the link 'Some rights reserved' next to the creative commons logo. It will take you to a page on the Creative Commons site where you can copy the code. Next you will need to add this code to your article. To do this on the source button in the editor and paste the code into your article then click on the source button again to take you back to the visual editor.
Where to Find Free Images
Wikimedia
All of the images from Wikimedia are either in the public domain or have one of the creative commons licenses. Check the license of the image you wish to use and always attribute the owner preoperly in your article.
Stock.xchng
This site has lots of free images although you'll have to register (free) to download large images. Some require you to inform the owner if you wish to use them but many are free to use without this. Images can be used on Word Wolf feeely but check with the Stock.xchng license to make sure you are following their guidelines. Be careful to only select images on the lower part of the page as the top part shows you premium images that you have to pay for.
Stock Vault
Stock vault is very similar to Stock.xchng with an identical license. As with Stock.xchng they show images that have to be paid for above the free images so scroll down to the Stock Photos section.
Every Stock Photo
Every Stock Photo lets you search for images from all of the above sites in one place. You'll have to see individual images for the license which in most cases will take you to the license page of the site hosting the images. Their advance search can be used to search for images with a specific license, so you could search for only images with a public domain license if you don't want add attributes to your article.
Flickr or Flickr Advanced Search
Many images on Flickr are free to use provided you attribute the owner properly. To find creative commons images use the advanced search button and tick the box to find images with a creative commons license.
Free Images
These images are free to use provided you credit the Free Images website and join their mailing list.
Free Digital Photos
If you use a free image from Free Digital Photos on Word Wolf, you must place a text hyperlink on that website to the photographer's portfolio page on FreeDigitalPhotos.net.
Morgue File
Despite it's rather macabre name Morgue File is a useful place to find images! They can be used freely without the need to attribute the owner.
These are just some of the places you can find images that you can freely use on your Word Wolf articles. It's easy to find images and use them in your Word Wolf articles and an image will make your article stand out from the crowd and look make it look professional.
Word Wolf Authors Terms of Service
Written by janetBy submitting your article to Word Wolf you agree to the following:
1. Your article is original and you are the author and sole owner of the copyright. Articles should not be published elsewhere on the net before or after being published on Word Wolf.
2. You give unconditional permission to Word Wolf to publish the article on the site and via RSS feeds.
3. Word Wolf does not take responsibility if articles are unlawfully copied from our site. All publishers are asked to contact the respective author for permission to reprint articles but if you feel that your copyright has been violated it is your responsibility to take legal action against them.
4. Word Wolf reserves the right to publish your article at their sole discretion. We do not guarantee how long an article will be published and we reserve the right to remove articles that do not meet our quality guidelines at any time.
5. If, after 30 days of membership, you have not published an article we reserve the right to terminate your membership of Word Wolf.
6. Word Wolf reserves the right to change the original category of your article for one that is, in our opinion, more suitable.
7. Word Wolf reserves the right to make certain changes to your article as outline in What are Editors Allowed to Change in Your Article?
8. You will not put links directly to affiliate products in articles.
9. You will not use any means to inflate the your Word Wolf traffic stats such as PPV (PayPerView) traffic, PPC (PayPerClick), traffic exchanges etc.
Word Wolf reserves the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time without prior notice.
Revenue Sharing
Word Wolf is a revenue sharing site. When you publish an article we will place adsense ads on the page. If you have an adsense account you will be able to earn money from these ads. In addition the more articles you publish at Word Wolf the bigger share of the revenue you will earn.
The revenue is shared as follows:
1-20 articles 60%
20-39 articles published 70%
40 and above articles published 80%
Copyright
Authors retain full copyright for their articles published on Word Wolf. If you wish to allow your articles to be re-published by others it is your responsibilty to specify the terms under which your article is republished. - Must be original and written by you or be an article that you have an exclusive right to. Public domain articles are not acceptable as you do not have the exclusive right to publish them. We will not publish articles that have been published elsewhere.

- Must be in English with correct grammar, punctuation, spelling, sentence structure and capitalisation. Minor errors may be corrected by our editors but please proof read before submitting.
- Must not include promotion of gambling, pornography or adult material, racial or religious intolerance, obscenities, violence or hate material.
- Must not include any information on the promotion of prescription drugs, hacking or cracking, bomb creation, use of steroids, support for terrorism or religious fanaticism, illicit drugs or use of firearms or other weapons.
- Must not contain any content that violates any laws or the legal rights of others or is considered libelous or defamatory.
- We are dedicated to providing a high quality site with original, interesting articles for our readers. We do not accept derivative content or content such as Acai Berry, penile enlargement, get your ex back etc that is a common source of spam on the net.
- Word Wolf reserves the right for its editors, at their sole discretion, to reject any article that they consider inappropriate or below our quality standards.
The title of your article:
- Your title should conform to common grammatical guidelines and not include quotes, periods or be all in capitals.
- Your title should not be keyword stuffed with your keyword included more than once.
- Your title must contain at least two words.
- Your title cannot be your author name or a URL
- Your title must honestly reflect the content of your article.
The body of your article:
- Must be at least 350 words.
- Must deliver what is promised in the title.
- Must be single spaced with appropriate paragraphs, numbered lists etc. Please do not submit an article with NO paragraphs.
- Links in your article:
- Are allowed and depend on your article's length. 350-450 words are allowed 1 outgoing link. 450-600 are allowed 2 outgoing links. 601+ get 3 outgoing links. Internal links (i.e. links to other Word Wolf articles) are unlimited.
- Must not be directed to pornographic, gambling or adult oriented sites.
- Must not be affiliate links or redirect straight to an affiliate product. Links to a page or site that contain affiliate links are acceptable.
- Must not be to a downloadable file.
- Must direct to pages that contain information relevant to the article. Links directed at pages that contain ONLY affiliate links or advertisements will be rejected.
- Must be unique. Do not place more than one link to the same URL in your article.
- Must not link to inactive or under construction websites.

Our editors have specific guidelines about what they are allowed to change in your article. They will not change any of your content but we do allow them to correct some errors in an effort to maintain Word Wolf's high standards. This should not be seen as a substitute for spell checking or using correct grammar in your articles.
The following are things that the editors at Word Wolf are allowed to change:
- Spelling errors
- Common errors of usage. For example the use of their and there, its and it's, who’s and whose
- Punctuation errors. Minor errors in punctuation such as adding a comma or period.
- Errors of tense. Editors can correct errors made in the tense.
- Minor changes to the sentence structure. Editors can make minor changes. For example if a sentence is much too long they may break up the sentence by adding a period and capitalising a word.
- Formatting changes. Editors are expected to make sure that the article is easy to read. For example if you have written your article with no paragraphs editors can break up the text by adding paragraphs. We will also adjust the size of videos or images that are too big for the page.
The following are things that editors cannot change:
- Editors cannot make major changes to the content.
- Editors cannot make any major changes to sentence structure or remove any parts of an article.
- Editors cannot change the order of words in the article title.
- Editors cannot remove links or keywords unless they are in violation of our rules for the no of links allowed in an article.
In conclusion then editors will not change the content of your article or the title but will make minor adjustments to improve the spelling, grammar and readability.
