Viral marketing is a very exciting field of marketing and can take place both in the real world and on the internet, however it’s normally associated with the online world.  The idea is that the marketing efforts will take on a life of its own, just like a virus.  You tell a small number of people and they tell other people who tell other people and before you know it there are thousands of people talking about you.
