After you have had your morning shower, turn the temperature down to as cold as possible and stay there for a couple of minutes.  For those who have done this, the t-cells in the blood have increased in quantity and activity, therefore increasing the immune system.  

Scientists have also tried it out with mice by exposing them to cold water stress over a period of 8 days and found they survived a lot longer when exposed to the intracellular parasite Toxoplasma gondii.

A study in Prague also showed that when men took cold baths the levels of monocytes and lymphocytes increased.  When this occurs, you will find that the body is better equipped to fight off viruses, toxins and pathogens.

If you always thought that skin brushing was simply a way of getting rid of dry skin you’d be wrong.  There are health benefits that go much more than just skin deep.  If you learn to do skin brushing properly you can actually help cleanse the lymphatic system.

Most people have either never heard of the lymphatic system or aren’t really sure what it is.  Well, basically it’s a fluid that runs around your body and there is even more of it than blood.  Sometimes it can become sluggish and it can end up blocked.  When this happens you will often notice a lump in your underarm or groin.

This is an extreme example however it goes to show that we need to give our bodies a chance to develop an immunity.  I’m not saying that we should all be living like the people on “How Clean Is Your House?” but do you really need to be so obsessed with cleaning every surface of your home with bleach?

If you have acne blackheads and pimples you'll be tempted to remove them by squeezing or picking but this may just make things worse by bursting the membrane that is holding in the acne causing bacteria and allowing them to spread out beneath the skin. So what is the best way to remove acne pimples and blackheads?

One of the best ways is to use an over the counter glycolic acid exfoliating product. These work by removing the top layer of dead skin cells and effectively cleaning out the clogged pores. Glycolic acid is mild to the skin and won't usually cause any side effects apart from a little, temporary redness. As well as removing acne pimples and blackheads used regularly it will help to prevent them coming back.

A more drastic method to remove acne blackheads and pimples is to use a chemical peel. Glycolic acid chemical peels are mild enough for sensitive, acne prone skin but should be used by a professional for the first time until you see how your skin reacts to them. You could also try a salicylic acid chemical peel. Do not use these types of peel if you are using a retinol containing product however as they increase the skin's sensitivity and could result in increased severity of side effects such as burning, itching or skin irritation.

Over the counter retinol products are also useful for removing acne problems. They can reduce the amount of oil produced by your skin and help to make your skin look better in the long term. They are not an instant solution to removing the acne problems but very helpful in keeping your skin in good condition and preventing the blackheads and pimples from returning.

A simple home remedy is to use an oatmeal mask. Cook some oatmeal and mix well into a paste then apply to the face. leave on for about twenty minutes then wash off gently with warm water followed by cold water to close up the pores. The oatmeal will help to clean out the pores and will help to remove blackheads and pimples if done regularly.

Pore strips are sold everywhere but do they work? In general they are not a 100% method but will remove the top part of the blackhead so at least your skin looks better. If followed by the application of a topical benzoyl peroxide product to help kill off the bacteria they can be useful but don't expect them to completely clear up all your blackheads. Don't overuse them or use them on damaged skin and only use them on the blackhead itself.

Prevention is better than cure and I'm sure you know that, although you can't completely cure your acne, a healthy diet and careful attention to keeping your skin clean will go a long way to preventing outbreaks so that you won't have to rely on methods to remove acne pimples and blackheads.
Open up a modern body building magazine and you will see physiques that are literally impossible achieve without exceptional genetics and steroids. Unfortunately, these physiques are put up as evidence of what is achievable for the 95% of strength training population who aren’t blessed with exceptional genetics and who don’t use drugs. This can be frustrating for the average trainee who is trying to gain muscle on the high volume routines that these exceptional individuals use.

A hardgainer refers to someone who finds it difficult to build muscle on these high volume routines. This is in fact the majority of the population. According to the book Build Muscle, Lose Fat, Look Great, the best routines for hardgainers are those that are high intensity, abbreviated and focus on large, multi-joint exercises. Lets look at this factors one-by-one.

Abbreviated

This means a minimal number of sets and exercises. It is generally recommended that hardgainers only use a maximum of 3 sets, with some even recommending just 1. Sounds like a cope out? Well, considering that hardgainers should be training to maximum intensity (see below) and you will quickly find that a hardgainer who train properly actually workout harder the most people on high volume routines.

Hardgainer are also usually recommended to only workout one muscle group per week. This is to avoid overtaining.

High Intensity

It is not how long a muscle is fatigue for but how fatigued that it gets, that determines maximum muscle growth. Maximum intensity is “maximum muscle fatigue” – that is, when the muscle is so fatigued that you can no longer move the weight. Hardgainer routines that advocate going to maximum fatigue will usually only recommend 1 set per exercise. Otherwise, you will fatigue the muscle so much that it could lead to overtraining and cause a cessation in muscle gains or at worse, muscle atrophy.

Most hardgainers should train 1 to 3 sets with the final set causing the muscle to come near (but completely to) maximum muscle fatigue.

Large, Multi Joint Exercises

Multi-joint exercises, like bench press and squats, work large amounts of muscle at once. The hardgainer philosophy is that there is no need for single joint exercises for such muscles as the triceps and biceps as they are worked through larger movements like the bench press and chinups. In fact, adding too many single-joint exercises chould lead to overtraining. It doesn’t mean that a hardgainer shouldn’t do single-joint exercises – rather, he or she should focus on the larger multi-joint exercises and use the single-joint ones to compliment the larger ones.

Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera has been used for many years for wound treatments and to prevent scarring. It is an effective natural treatment for acne. You can grow an aloe vera plant in your home or outdoors if you live in a warm climate and use the gel straight from the plant. The skin of the plant can be crushed and used as a cleanser. Alternatively you can buy aloe vera but be careful to buy gel that is pure as many preparations that are sold contain other ingredients and chemicals. Lemon juice
