Smoking is just one of the bad habits people decide to take up.  In the past smoking was promoted as being stylish and even healthy.  However because of our better understanding of medical science, we now know that there are all sorts of different problems when it comes to smoking.  It should be pointed out, however, that there are other problems with smoking that not everybody talks about.

Insurance Costs of Smoking - Not only do you have to pay money for your cigarettes, you will also find you are out of pocket in other ways.  For instance, did you know that smokers pay more for health insurance?  This is just because you are more likely to become ill from cancer and other illnesses.  Even when it comes to your oral hygiene, you will find there are more problems as a smoker because you will increase your chances of gum disease and your teeth falling out.  So it shouldn’t come as a shock to you to find out that healthy people get cheaper health insurance.

Passive Smoking - If you smoke in front of other people you are putting them at risk of becoming ill.  This is especially true if you have a family with young children.  You certainly don’t want to set a bad example because if you smoke there is an increased chance of them smoking too.  Also, it’s very worrying to hear that many pregnant women as smoking as this can seriously affect their unborn child’s health.

Life Is More Difficult - Governments all around the world are really cracking down on smoking.  They can quite easily see that it’s not good for peoples health which is why smoking is being banned from more and more places.  This include flights, cinemas, shops and restaurants.  This is all designed to make life more difficult in the hope that you will quit.

I really hope that smoking will be a thing of the past because there are so many reasons to stop smoking and no reasons to continue.  Just give up and you will be much happier.  Not only you will be happier, people around you will be happier too.

Learning how to care for your teeth is possibly more important now than ever because of our diets.  In the past, people ate a lot more whole grains and considerably less sugar.  Sugar used to be incredibly expensive and only the rich could afford to eat it.  Nowadays is so cheap that everyone eats foods with sugar.  Sugar can also be hidden in savoury foods such as ketchup and chutneys.  So here are some tips on how to keep your teeth lovely and healthy.

First of all you need to make sure you brush your teeth twice a day.  Not only that but you also need to learn how to brush your teeth correctly.  Make sure you spend a good amount of time cleaning all over your mouth including your gums and tongue.  When choosing a brush, you should buy one that is small and has synthetic bristles.  You should also replace your brush every month.

Don’t forget to floss between your teeth because there are some places that the toothbrushes simply cannot reach.  Learning how to floss properly is also a good idea because you’ll want to make the most of your flossing efforts.  Either ask your dentist for advice or do a search on the internet for “how to floss properly.”

If you enjoy drinking fruit smoothies you should realize that they can actually do a lot of damage to your teeth and that drinking fruit is very different from eating fruit.  If you want to minimize the risk of damage to your teeth you should drink through a straw and/or eat some cheese to neutralize the acid.

You might not realize this, but drinking green tea is also great for you oral hygiene.  However please understand that you shouldn’t add sugar to your tea because the sugar will only counteract the benefits of the green tea.  Also, green tea is no replacement for brushing your teeth.

If you are a smoker you should really give up because smoking increases your chances of mouth cancer and also gum disease and tooth loss.  Not only that, but you will also end up with horrible yellow teeth.  You might fancy some cheap teeth whitening in Sacramento however it’s probably best that you avoid doing things that will cause you do end up with discoloured teeth in the first place.  .

Weight loss is of course a very popular topic of discussion because most people weigh a lot more than they would like.  The problem is that weight gain can often creep up on us when we least expect.  A few pounds here and a few pounds there means that suddenly you’re several stone overweight.

The problem is that people can be very impatient.  They don’t realize that because they took years to put the weight on, it could also take years for them to get down to their ideal weight.  Rapid weight loss just isn’t a good idea because it’s unhealthy and unnatural. 

You might be tempted by all of the weight loss pills on the market but remember, you are unlikely to lose all the weight you want with pills alone.  You need to take a serious look at your diet and exercise habits too.  Here are some tips you might want to follow:-

1.  Reduce Your Alcohol Intake - Yes, alcohol really can help you to put on weight at an alarming rate.  It might not contain fat but it certainly helps you to put fat onto your body.  Honestly, if you cut it out altogether or just have a small glass of wine a night, you will notice a big difference.  Of course, if you don’t drink alcohol anyway, this tip isn’t much good to you.

2.  Textured Vegetable Protein (TVP) - Although most meat-eaters think that TVP is just for vegetarians, there’s actually a really good selection you can buy from the meat-free section of the supermarket.  There’s all sorts including burgers, sausages and mince.  You can cook them in pretty much the same way you would with animal meat yet they contain a lot less fat and so will help you lose weight.

3.  Walk More - If you are in the habit of taking the car everywhere, even for very short journeys, you should learn to start walking instead.  It’s a great way to get into exercise, especially if you are really unfit and have health conditions.  You can even burn off more calories if you wear ankle weights.

Although these tips above are probably tips you’ve heard of before, they really do work so you shouldn’t ignore them.  For the majority of people, the above advice can be enough to get them to a more healthy weight.  Of course, there are some who struggle so much with their weight that they end up getting cheap bariatric weight loss surgery in Oklahoma.  This should only be considered in the most extreme cases where you’ve tried everything else and failed.

The Inner Child in your Adult Costume

Some of you are asking, “What’s the point of Halloween when you’re an adult with no children?” I’m here to tell you that there is a point and it has a little something to do with the adult costume variety that’s out there today. When was the last time you looked for a costume… an adult costume; beyond your local grocery or department store? Yes, major grocery stores are now carrying costumes for adults. Have you seen the inside of a Halloween specialty shop or a party store lately?

They’re great, and I don’t just mean that from a parent’s point of view either. Party stores are home to lots of great little things. Decorations, take-home toys, wedding nonsense (yes, I said it), and of course, the almighty costume. For children picking out a costume is a no-brainer usually; it’s the Power Ranger, the Princess, or the Ninja. For an adult, however, the consideration of where you’re going to wear this costume, what for, and for how long all crosses your mind at some point. I’m pretty sure that those sexy little “French Maid” numbers don’t sell too well in Alaska.

An adult costume differs very much from a child’s in that you have the freedom to be something outrageous without crossing a line: there is comedy in many choices. Have you seen the Plug and Socket costume? How about the giant chicken, penguin, or cow? You could pick the conversation-starter of the evening and not even know it. Of course, be wary that if you’re simply handing candy out on your front porch, you might want to be a little more conservative.

Halloween gives you the option to be something and wear something you might not in everyday life. However, let’s not forget there is such a thing as a versatile costume. Looking to spice up your love life? There is a whole line of super sexy costumes, not to mention a plethora of wigs, make-up and endless accessory combinations.

Party stores are great to get started in, but let’s not forget those “specialty” stores that pop up just for this holiday; they’re not short on adult costumes either. They have everything mentioned above and (gasp!) more. The sad thing is, they are only around for a limited time usually; the upside, however, is the few days before and the couple days after the kooky holiday there are always great sales.

So you see, an adult costume can be fun or sexy, mature or juvenile, it’s all up to you. My bit of advice is to just make sure that you consider the weather very thoroughly before you pick out that super thin, skin-tight, Superman costume or that Yeti get-up. It’s all very tempting, but giving yourself a budget will ensure you won’t go overboard. Of course, without kids, this is very difficult as when it comes to Halloween they don’t understand the concept of money… you’re like that, too, aren’t you? Adult costumes are surely a way to bring out your inner kid, Halloween or not.

• Avocado Face Mask - Avocado, lemon and non-fat powdered milk help dry skin become soft and smooth.  Mash a large avocado in bowl.  Add 2 toss of lemon juice and 4-6 toss of non-foot powdered milk or mayonnaise.  Blend well until smooth.  Apply the paste to the face to form a mask.  Use the excess on your arms, neck nape and other surfaces of your skin which were exposed to sunlight and wind.  Let the mask stay for 15 minutes before you sleep.  Apply every 2-3 days. You will notice a great improvement after several weeks.  Don’t use this method if you have oily skin.

• Lemon Exfoliant -  For an effective exfoliant, combine a cup of oatmeal or wheat germ, a cup of non-fat powdered milk, 2 egg whites and juice of 1 big lemon.  Mix thoroughly all the ingredients until they form a paste. Cover your face, neck, and arm with a layer of the mixture and let it dry for 10-15 minutes.  Remove afterwards by rubbing the mask lightly with a circular movement of your palm.  Do this in the evening after resting for an hour from your daily routine.  Apply twice a week for several months.  It is a good skin toner as you will then notice smooth and even skin with beautiful tone and mixture.


• Pandan Leaves Facial Treatment - A warm facial wash using tea made from boiler panda leaves, a dash of anise seeds, and a few sprigs of mint, basil, and rosemary will improve the tone and texture of tired dry skin.  Do this in the morning and evening every now and then.


• Honey exfoliates.  Honey, egg whites, oatmeal, and non-fat powdered milk, when mixed to form a paste, can be used as an exfoliate to even out blemished and rough skin.  Also good for acne treatment.  Make a paste by mixing together 1 cup of oatmeal, 1 egg white, ½ cup non-fat powdered milk, and 1 tablespoon of honey.  Rub the paste on rough or blemished skin. Allow the paste to stay for 5-10 minutes.  Do this before taking a bath at least once or twice a week.  Remember to rub the paste vigorously.


Cuticle Remover and Softener 


• Cuticle Remover - The soles of our feet, our elbows, and sometimes the palms of our hands thicken and develop calluses because of irritation from overuse.  To remove callus or make the skin smoother, vigorously rub the specified area with a mixture of crushed raw papaya and pineapple in the veining, daily or every other day for at least one month.

 

• Cuticle Softener - A solution of 1 tbsp vinegar or baking soda to a cup of water can soften up the cuticles of your fingers and toe nails and make it easy to remove them.  Soak your nails for a few minutes before trimming.

 

More Body Odor Tips


• Scalp, Foot and Armpit Odor Remover - Mix 2 cups of vinegar to ½ cup water and 1 tbsp baking soda Rinse your scalp or rub the solution to the armpit.  Let it dry for a few minutes, and then rinse with warm water.  Massage feet while being soaked.  Let dry for 5 minutes then rinse with warm water.  This solution will also whiten armpit and feet if done twice a week.
 

Portable Spa


• Herbal Bath -  A great spa in your home.  Here is a recipe for a soothing herbal bath you can use to relax your mind and body: 2-4 cups mint leaves chopped coarsely, rosemary, minced; 1 cup chamomile leaves, chopped coarsely; 2 cups rose petals, minced; ½ cup fresh oregano leaves, chopped coarsely; a few drops of tea rose oil; 2 quarts boiling water; 6-8 quasars warm water.  Procedure: Mix together mint, rosemary, oregano, chamomile leaves and rose petals in a clean container, preferably clay, ceramic or enamel-coated.  Pour boiling water and allow steeping for 30 minutes.  Strain liquid to warm water.  Add anew drops of tea rose oil for bathing or after rinsing.  You can also double or triple the recipe, use it for soaking yourself in the bathtub for about 15 minutes, to relax yourself before a massage. 


Another variation is replacing rose petals with 2 cups of orange peel (chopped coarsely) and tea rose oil with 6 toss of orange rind.  Oregano could be unused to replace 2 cups of crushed eucalyptus leaves, and tea rose oil, with a few drops of eucalyptus oil.  The variation will depend on your preference and mood.
