Hockey, or ice hockey, is a full contact team sport played on ice, the players wearing ice skates and complete protection equipment including helmet, mouth guard, shoulder pads, hockey pants, thick protective gloves and elbow pads. All these are needed because hockey allows bodychecks, thus being a violent sport with high risk of severe injuries for the players.
