Rapid weight loss diets are old news. People have always been trying to cut back and lose calories in the quickest way possible… even if it means going to extreme measures. However, according to nutritionists and dieticians, some rapid weight loss diets may actually be detrimental to one’s health. Aside from severely depleting the body of natural sources of nutrition, this also sends the body into the first throes of starvation. When this happens, we automatically but unconsciously use our reserves of stored calories to keep our internal organs functional. The muscles from the rest of the body are therefore left out, which can lead to muscle loss and even atrophy.

But the good news is this: you can find a suitable rapid weight loss program if you carefully consider your options. First of all, you want an eating plan that promotes gradual loss of unwanted fats (not muscles.) This gives your body time to acclimatize to the changes you are doing to your diet. Secondly, it is imperative that you find a diet that allows you to eat. Completely depriving yourself of food is never the best course of action to take. It would be better to eat stuff that you like, but in smaller amounts and portions. Lastly, exercise is essential to weight loss too. This is the fastest way to burn off the fats that you already have. At the same time, this gives the body the reason to send more nutrients to the other muscles of the body, which prevents muscle loss and atrophy completely.

In order to find safe but effective rapid weight loss diets, you would need to ask help either from your health care provider or a nutritionist. He or she can tell you how to cut back on your calorie intake without making you feel like you are starving yourself. This would also help you develop your own personal eating plan which can be streamlined according to your personal taste, the availability of food in your area and the type of food you are most likely to prepare on your own.
