Plastic Surgery is not just about the staying beautiful or looking young but it has a lot of applications that go beyond the aesthetic. Also known as Cosmetic Surgery, this specialization deals with the physical appearance of a person. It is not mainly about beautification but its main goal is to restore those who are afflicted with disabilities from natural cases, inborn instances and as well as accidents. Plastic Surgery plays a major role not just in the restoration of the physical look of the man but also to the restoration of his spirit. Cleft clip and palate operations, breast reconstruction and septoplasty are only few of the many wonders Plastic Surgeons can do. Of course we should not forget that plastic surgery has a dark side too and that they may have some negative effects in the body especially if the operation is not done well.

There are many complications and all of them have some long term effects in the body one way or another. The effects and the intensity of it may depend upon what surgery was done. One of the common mistakes we see is the asymmetry of the body. Imagine an imaginary line running from the top of the head, down to the bottom of the legs. Asymmetry is a condition where the left side does not match with the one in the right or vice-versa. This inconsistency can cause embarrassment, disfigurement and even pain. If there will be some kind of infection, the patient can suffer more serious complications. Damage to the nerves, paralysis and gangrene can happen. If there will be some implants, the improper insertion can cause leaks. Studies have shown that leak implants could cause fatal diseases like cancer later on in life.

In order to have a successful surgery and avoid complications, it is important to find a competent plastic surgery specialist. You can try those who are highly recommended by other people. If you know someone who have undergone plastic surgery, you should talk to them and gauge how the operation went. The result of the procedure should be comfortable years after the surgery was done. Use the internet as a tool and research first the plastic surgeon you have chosen. There are a few sites that can give you helpful information like if the doctor is a certified plastic surgery specialist or not. You should know the statistical data like success rate or the percentage of complications. Talk to the doctor and present your questions. You should understand what will be done to you and what effects should you expect. A good doctor will be honest with you and offer you all the information you need.

Before the actual surgery, you and your plastic surgeon should talk about the specific details that will be done to your body. You should get a rough idea how you would look like post-operation. This will help avoid re-surgeries because you were not happy with the outcome. Pay attention even to minute details. Example if you will have implants, ask what kind shall be used and what your other options are. After the surgery, make sure that you will have someone to take care of your needs. Ask the plastic surgeon beforehand what are the after effects of the operation. You should now how to combat these side-effects or at least how to ease the pain. In order to hasten the healing process, consult what are the best foods you should eat. Your doctor should be able to advise you regarding this matter.

Unfortunately there are so many people in the world that suffer from some sort of allergy.  This can vary from minor problems to potentially life-threatening allergies.  Even if you only have minor problems you'll still want to get to the bottom of it all and the way you can do this is to get an allergy test.

Skin Tests

A skin test is one of the most popular means of testing for an allergy.  Basically they place a small amount of the possible allergen under the skin.  This allergen might be pollen, dander , food or something else.

So that the test results can be depended upon, you need to stop taking medications such as Allegra, Benadryl and Claritin as it can take quite a while for these meds to fully get out of your system.  Unfortunately if you keep taking them they can potentially interfere with the accuracy of the test therefore making it difficult to find out what you are allergic to.

There are different tests that you might have done whilst visiting the doctor.  These are:-

A percutaneous test punctures or pricks your skin.  Small amounts of the allergens are put into the skin near the surface.  Pollen, dander, dust mite waste and such like are typically tested with this method.

An intracutaneous test carried out by injecting the allergen into the skin, normally deeper than a scratch test.  This is better test when testing for bee and wasp sting allergic reactions along with other things such as  penicillin.

An epicutaneous or patch test is used for detecting skin allergies, for instance sensitivity to latex or perfume.  Loads of people can have nasty reactions to hair dyes or preservatives and this is referred to as dermatitis.  A patch is placed on the skin for quite a while and then the doctor looks for certain reactions.

When adults are tested for allergies the tests are normally carried out on the forearm.  However for children it's normally on the upper back.  If you are worried that the tests will be painful, don't worry because they aren't.  At worst they are mildly uncomfortable if an allergy is found.  So this means you can expect some itching, redness, swelling and such like if you are allergic to any of the substances used.

Blood Tests

In some cases, skin tests aren't suitable for certain people.  It might be that they are especially sensitive or have some sort of condition that makes it unsafe.  A blood test is therefore the option available to them.  Unfortunately it's not as effective as skin tests and are more expensive to carry out.

A small quantity of blood will be taken so that the percentage of IgE (immunoglobulin E) can be looked at.  It can give an indication of who might be allergic but is only accurate in about a third of cases.  Blood tests are also used if the doctor is considering allergy immunotherapy or allergy shots for the patient.

Lots of people can have merely mild allergic reactions to substances but it still makes their lives uncomfortable.  Therefore knowing what the problem is and how to deal with it can be of great help to them.  Make sure you always get professional advice before getting any kind of treatment.
