Hard Candy Cosmetics was established in 1995 and since then it took off as one of the most famous cosmetics companies in the United States. This cosmetics company was the brainchild of Iranian-American siblings Pooneh Mohajer and Dineh. Another person was involved in founding the company and that was Benjamin Einstein. The very first product manufactured by Hard Candy was a nail polish that one of the owners had invented herself. Dineh experimented with multiple colors and came up with a nail polish called “Sky”. The product became a sensation almost instantaneously and it propelled the company to achieve a profitable level.
It was the year 1995, in a busy neighborhood in Los Angeles. The city of Los Angeles is a place on earth where any kind of merchandise is available, from the most fashionable clothes to the latest gadgets that are launched in the market. Dineh was 22 years old then and was looking for a nail polish shade that would match her new pair of sandals. Strangely enough, she was not able to find one in a place where everything imaginable is supposedly available. She then decided to become inventive by mixing different shades of nail polish and that was when “Sky” was born. Upon wearing this color, many people noticed it and appreciated the unique shade. Thus, a new shade of blue was introduced to the world of cosmetics under the name of “Sky”.
At first, this unknown nail polish was only displayed in a few exclusive stores in Los Angeles. After “Sky”, other shades followed suit. There’s the Sunshine for yellow, Violet for lavender, and Mint for pastel green. All these shades gained massive popularity among the younger generation. It was then that Hard Candy Cosmetics got its first demand of almost 200 bottles of nail polish. It was also in 1995 that the company received its first big break, when actress Alicia Silverstone made an appearance in a talk show hosted by David Letterman. She was wearing Hard Candy’s “Sky” nail polish. David Letterman noticed the unique shade and asked his guest about it. That simple question made the company an overnight sensation.
The products of Hard Candy Cosmetics are truly one of a kind and bear a signature style. Each product radiates uniqueness and originality. It is fun, young and vibrant. The cute packaging makes it all the more appealing. Cruelty is definitely not encouraged in Hard Candy so each product is ideal for vegan and animal lovers alike. The ingredients are developed well, enriching them with the essential vitamins and antioxidants. Also combined with aromatherapy, each product of Hard Candy is meant to give its users maximum satisfaction.
Women always get excited whenever their favorite brand of cosmetics comes up with a new line of make-up. The excitement is doubles when you find something that really goes well with your skin type and preference. But what is heart-breaking is when the company suddenly decides to discontinue production of your favorite products due to several reasons.
Like with other products, cosmetics have shelf lives and they expire after a certain period of time. And because it is business, cosmetic manufacturers try to determine which of their offerings are being patronized and which are hardly bought by customers in stores and only end up as expired goods. The solution to minimizing the latter and thus reducing the expenses of the company is to discontinue manufacturing the said products.
But just because they do not sell like hotcakes doesn't mean that they do not sell at all. Discontinued cosmetics have patrons too and they are the ones directly affected by the phasing out of the make-up. This is why there are now stores that specialize in selling discontinued cosmetics. In these stores you will still be able to but that line of lipstick that is perfect for your skin tone.
Most sellers of these discontinued cosmetics can be found online as they have put up web-based stores for easier communication with their clients. They have taken advantage of today's technology and made use of easier means to shop, order and have the goods delivered right to the buyer's doorstep.
If you want to buy discontinued cosmetics, all you need to have is a working computer and a decent internet connection. Simply go online and point your browser to the site of the seller and start browsing through the online catalog of products. Click on the images, most of which are actual photos of the products for sale, to see more details that might help you decide whether to buy the product or not. When you are ready to purchase, go to the payment and shipping details page for proper instructions.
The cosmetics that these online stores are selling might be discontinued but they are still safe to use. Ask for the expiration date and date of manufacture to ensure that what you are about to buy is not yet for disposal. You are also assured of the good condition of the discontinued cosmetics being sold at these online stores, so you will still get good value for your money.
Skin Preparation
The first thing that you need to do actually needs to be done several days in advance. You will need to prepare your skin for your big day. After all this is a big day for your skin as well. Prepare your skin by cleansing it well each day and applying facial creams and moisturizers. Also, be sure and avoid having any facials for the week leading up to the wedding. Facials can bring impurities to the surface and cause a breakout on your special day.
Sun Exposure
The next bit of advice for your bridal makeup is to avoid overexposure to the sun. This can not only dry your skin out, but also make things ten times worse for you should you get a burn. Although having a tan is something you may find desirable, it may be best to look go the natural route for your wedding and just be yourself. Another option is to look into getting a sunless tanning cream instead. Be sure and try out the many variety of creams available well in advance so that you do not end up orange for your wedding day!
Selecting Bridal Makeup
When choosing bridal makeup, make sure you choose colors that will compliment your skin tone as well as your dress and bridal flowers. It is quite possible to do this yourself, but remember that on your wedding day you may be a bucket of nerves. Your hand may not be steady, you will be emotional and the last thing you need is to do this job yourself. The best advice for anyone is to hire a professional to do the bridal makeup. They are well experienced in makeup application and will have a variety of ideas to show you to make your final decision easier.
Make an appointment with a makeup artist well in advance of your special day so that you can get an idea of what your makeup will look like before your big day. This will be a good trial run. Bring along a photo of your dress, or the actual dress as well as photos of your flower bouquet. Some makeup artists will make home visits so this is especially helpful so that you don't need to carry around your dress and flowers, etc.
Along with doing the bridal makeup, you may also want to find out about having the makeup done for the bridesmaids as well. Be sure and discuss costs so you will have no surprises at the end.
These are just a few of the tips on how to make sure you pick the perfect bridal makeup. Just remember that you face is going to be the most important item to your makeup looking good, so treat it well and on your big day, it will return the favor. I hope this article has been helpful in guiding you through the process of choosing the correct bridal makeup.
Jane cosmetics is often over looked when buying new brands due to their low prices. I have used Jane for a few years and I am so glad that I discovered them. The colors are comparable to Estee Lauder and the quality is high end despite the very reasonable pricing. Jane is one of the best drugstore makeup brands you are going to find.
My first experience with Jane cosmetics was Blushing Cheeks in shade blushing honey. I received it as a gift from my Mom. I saw Jane on the shelves but I always choose a more expensive brand because I erroneously thought that price denoted quality.
The blush comes in a cute little pot with the word Jane on its clear lid. I opened it up and did the smell test (a surprisingly common way to judge if a women is going to like a makeup) it had nearly no scent. This was a great selling point for me because if I am going to put it on my face I do not want it to be perfumed. The light scent that I could detect was very clean and subtle. I applied the blush on the apples of my cheeks and found myself pleasantly surprised at the quality of the product. It blended better than products that cost twice as much! It gave me a subtle glow, but I could not see any tell tale signs of wearing makeup.
Later that day my husband even commented that I had a rosy glow and I waited for him to say I over did it on the make up but then he stated “and your not even wearing makeup today.” For him to say this is a big deal because he is the type that likes the natural look and usually politely points it out if he can see obvious makeup. After trying the blush, I knew I had to have more of this affordable brand!
Jane products in my makeup bag right now include: Jane Max Lash 2 Mascara, Jane Pure Mineral Foundation, three Jane eye shadow duos, and Jane Max lip plumper, Jane Bronzer, blush, and a few nearly empty lipstick tubes. I try new colors more often with Jane than with any other brand because I trust them to be good and I can afford to experiment more. My favorite Jane product at the moment is the Max Lash Mascara because it does not smudge or leave little flakes around my eyes like some other mascaras tend to do. The lip plumper gives me that glossy look on my lips yet has no tint this is great for the casual yet sexy look. I am looking forward to trying the Be Pure mineral lip balms but have not found them yet locally. I am sure they will be a staple this winter if they are anything like the other products put out by Jane.
As I already stated, Jane Cosmetics is a very affordable brand. However, I am never one to pass up a deal so before I go to the store I often print up Jane Makeup coupons and I can typically find a good one. Most of Jane’s line runs under or around five dollars, so a dollar or two off is great, and every so often Jane will go on sale buy one get one, combine that with coupons found online and it’s better than Christmas!
I am a huge fan of Jane because of the high-end quality and colors. I love telling my friends when they ask about a shade I am wearing about the price. It all started with a little pot of blush and now I cannot get enough of Jane Cosmetics!
